MACRO SCOPE

19 NOV - 17 DEC 2022

Namgoong Whan, Ryan Yoon, Damiano Pahk

JANET OH GALLERY presents a unique group show featuring three Korean artists, Namgoong Whan, Ryan Yoon, and Damiano Pahk, who have vastly different backgrounds and practices but are connected by their persevering adherence to their extraordinary vision. The title “Macro Scope” derives from the meaning of the scientific term “cross-section,” the diagram of a plane cutting an object transversely to show the inner workings. Likewise, each artist presents a close-up cross section of their perspective of how they absorb the world and surroundings. Their works require meticulous and methodical skills to portray what is normally overlooked by most people, whether it’d be the pavement of a parking lot, the foams of sea waves, or the spiral patterns in plants. These works show how the artists coexist in the world through the rhythms and memories of life. This exhibition will spotlight each artist’s leading efforts to expand the breadth of diverse art by Korean artists who have much to offer due to their expatriate backgrounds.
